More than 10,000 sets of toothbrushes and toothpastes purchased to benefit over 300,000 teeth
[Singapore, 4 May 2020] Specialist Dental Group (SDG) and TSD Dental Group (TSD) have come together to raise funds internally to purchase Sensodyne toothbrushes and toothpastes for over 10,000 migrant workers. It is estimated that this will help to benefit more than 300,000 teeth.
These migrant workers are currently cared for by the Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC), a bipartite initiative of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and the Singapore National Employers’ Federation (SNEF).
As to why migrant workers were selected as the beneficiaries of the fund raising project, Dr Ansgar Cheng, Prosthodontist and Director shared that “Singapore has many migrant workers and for many years, Singapore has been built by migrant workers. Many in our team and numerous Singaporeans have grandparents that are like them – left their hometown to work in Singapore in the name of putting food on the table back home.”
As many migrant workers were affected by COVID-19, the team members would like to show a gesture of support to them. Dental care items such as toothbrushes and toothpastes are used on a daily basis, hence the team hopes that this donation will help the migrant workers continue to maintain good oral hygiene and overall health.
This donation will also ensure that migrant workers who are on quarantine and unable to go out to purchase daily essential items will have enough to last them through the period.
The dental care kits comprising more than 10,000 sets of toothbrushes and toothpastes were delivered to MWC on Tuesday, 5 May 2020.
