This year marks another special moment for our team at Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM)! We have new runners joining us and wonderful results 😉
Dr Ansgar Cheng – Full Marathon
As one of the 10 runners in the local elite category, Dr Ansgar Cheng (Dental Specialist in Prosthodontics) has a special runner bib this year. Instead of numbers like most participants, his bib is printed with his surname ‘CHENG’. He completed the race in 03:10:12, coming in third in the Masters category, and first in the 50-59 age group. In SCSM, the Masters category consists of runners who are 40 and above.
Dr Tan Kian Meng, Dr Ben Wang, Vicky, Liza & Jolene – Toyota Ekiden
A few of our team members participated in Ekiden for the first time this year. The team completed 42.2km with a timing of 05:16:18 – not too bad for a mixed gender and mixed age group (20s-50s). Leading the team is Dr Tan Kian Meng (Dental Specialist in Prosthodontics) and Dr Ben Wang (Dental Surgeon in Postgraduate Training in Periodontics). Running in Ekiden presents participants with the satisfaction of completing in a full marathon as a team. Completing a full marathon may not be possible on a personal level yet, but as a team, they did it 😉
Dr Neo Tee Khin – Half Marathon & Abby – 10km
Dr Neo Tee Khin (Dental Specialist in Prosthodontics) and Abby were running solo for the half marathon and 10km run respectively. Though they participated in these race alone, they were supported by the rest of the team who were not running. With a personal best timing of 02:05:02, Dr Neo is closer to his goal of sub-2hours for a half marathon. As for Abby, she completed her 10km with a timing of 01:13:43 and thoroughly enjoyed her experience at the SCMS.
