Last Saturday, 9 May 2015 was Specialist Dental Group’s annual company retreat.
We started the day with an exchange session between our dentists and nurses where various interesting cases were discussed. It was a lively meeting and a great opportunity for nurses and dentists to share their views.
The morning concluded with a training session aim to enhance our service. We learnt various tips and tricks from our consultant on how to bring our patients’ experience to the next ‘wow’ level.
Having completed the brain work portion of the retreat, we headed to the National Service Resort and Country Club to work on our appetites and muscles. The first programme after lunch was a bowling tournament. During this session, we discovered that many doctors and nurses had a hidden flare for bowling! Eventually, the team comprising of Dr Neo Tee Khin, Ita, and Rochelle emerged as winners.
The next programme of the day was a Healthy Cooking demonstration session by Chef Rosalind Lim who introduced us to 3 healthy and delicious Korean dishes; a DIY Easy Kimchi appetizer, a refreshing Pear, Pomegranate, Orange & Berries with Citron Yoghurt Dressing Salad, and a Seafood Japchae (which is sweet potato starch noodles) dish. It was such a feast, literally, and all our tummies enjoyed it very much.
To ensure that we burned off the extra calories, the next programme was a Bokwa Session. According to the instructor, a Bokwa workout can burn up to 1,200 calories. Indeed, the South African dance inspired workout left everyone in high spirits for the final activity of the day, Street Netball.
We were split into 4 teams and after much sweat, the team comprising of Dr Steven Soo, Julia, Rachel, Liza, Izanne and Nancy emerged victorious.
The evening concluded with a lovely barbeque dinner where we ate and chit chatted into the wee hours of the night.
Although sweaty and somewhat sore and sunburned, I am sure we all enjoyed the day thoroughly. In the midst of daily hustle at work, it is difficult for us to catch up and bond. Such events present us with a rare window to slow down and catch up with each other’s lives.
Till next year’s retreat, my Specialist Dental Group family!
