On 1st February 2015, some members of the Specialist Dental Group® team spent our day with volunteers and needy families in the Kembangan-Chai Chee family, taking part in the One Community 2015. This initiative, organized by the People’s Association, Kembangan-Chai Chee Division, was graced by Minister Tan Chuan-Jin, Minister for Manpower. He shared that beyond physically helping to improve the physical environment of the beneficiaries’ homes and food distribution, the constituency also aims to impart awareness on maintenance of good personal hygiene and sanitation to the beneficiaries.
Here we are armed with various painting and cleaning implements, all ready to head off to our assigned units.
With help from other volunteers and our family members, we were able to complete our tasks rather quickly. This included spring cleaning, painting the house and grills of the units.
Besides sprucing up the beneficiaries’ homes, there were also other volunteers assigned to roles like distribution of rice and basic necessities. It was indeed heart-warming to see volunteers from all ages, races and all walks of life gather for a good cause.
As we bid the families good bye and go back to our daily lives, this activity will serve as a reminder, that we can always do more for our community. We are fortunate to be able to lend a helping hand, and we hope that you have similar opportunities as well. Every action, no matter how small, will make a difference.
