The clinical team at Specialist Dental Group (SDG) were involved in a ground-breaking NobelActive Live Surgery & Workshop event that took place in both Singapore and Indonesia on November 6, 2010.
Indonesian dentists who participated in the “Immediate Function in Extraction Site with Focus on Esthetic Zone” day-long course not only witnessed a Live Surgery being performed in real time in Singapore but also listened to a lecture by Dr Neo Tee Khin, Prosthodontist and Director of SDG. Dr Neo spoke on how this innovative procedure enabled patients to have dental implants and new teeth simultaneously placed within an hour. After the live surgery was completed, Dr Neo also conducted a workshop on immediate function for participants.
The Live Surgery procedure was performed at SDG’s clinic in Singapore and was broadcast in real-time via the internet to the audience in Indonesia. This combination of high tech implant procedure and high tech audiovisual showcased the clinical predictability of the procedure.
Dr Ho Kok Sen, Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon at SDG, placed the dental implants on the patient, while Dr Ansgar Cheng, Prosthodontist and Director at SDG attached the teeth. The whole procedure took slightly more than one hour from start to finish.
The patient had four front teeth replaced. The front teeth are important in this procedure because the implants and the new teeth need to be accurately placed – otherwise the bite and the look of the teeth would be compromised.
The new teeth are also functional immediately – the patient was able to eat some fruit after the surgery was over !!!
Our clinical data at SDG has shown that combining CT jawbone scanning, advanced implant technology and extensive clinical experience makes simultaneous placement of implants and teeth a predictable procedure. Our patient data shows a 99% success rate in this technique. Our patients also enjoy the long term benefits of implant teeth that look, feel and function like real teeth.
