Bone grafting is needed when there is a defect in the bone which occurs after long term tooth loss or traumatic tooth loss. Bone grafts prepare the jaw bone to accept dental implants or enhance the support around failing teeth. The procedure may be performed after the extraction of infected teeth in order to preserve the site for future implant placement. There are also times that bone is grafted to offer improved support for dentures.
Our dental specialists/ dentists will find out the details of your medical and dental history, go through a consultation and examination and take a digital X-ray of your teeth to enable a thorough and detailed diagnosis, to ascertain if you require bone grafting.
Bone grafting is a minor surgical procedure that can usually be performed within minutes. In general, the length of the procedure is approximately proportional to the size of the grafting area.
Our dentists/ dental specialists will anesthetized the recipient site and gently open up the gums. Bone graft material would be placed underneath the gum.
