The Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) is a scheme by the Ministry of Health (MOH) that enables Singapore Citizens from lower and middle-income households to receive subsidies for medical and dental care at participating clinics. Specialist Dental Group is a participating CHAS clinic.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Singapore Citizens of all ages are eligible for CHAS if they meet the following criteria:
- Household monthly income per person of $1,800 and below; OR
- For households with no income, the Annual Value (AV) of residence as reflected on the NRIC must be $21,000 and below.
Household monthly income per person is the total gross household monthly income divided by total number of family members living together. For instance, a family of four living at the same address with a total gross household monthly income of $7,200 (household monthly income per person is $7,200 ÷ 4 = $1,800) will qualify for CHAS, provided that they are all Singapore Citizens.
Family members (related by blood, marriage and/or legal adoption) living at the same address, as reflected on their NRICs, will need to apply together on one application form. All the family members’ income will contribute towards the household monthly income per person.
Members of the public who are on Public Assistance (PA) scheme do not need to apply as they are already eligible for CHAS.

Pioneer Generation (PG) Package
To recognise and honour the contributions of Singapore’s Pioneer Generation in nation-building, the government has launched a Pioneer Generation (PG) Package that provides them with several forms of healthcare support. Specialist Dental Group is a participating PG clinic.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
The Pioneer Generation is defined as living Singaporeans who meet these 2 criteria:
- Aged 16 and above in 1965. This means that they were born on 31 December 1949 or earlier (aged 65 and above in 2014).
- Became a Singapore citizen before 1987.
If you belong to the Pioneer Generation, there is no need for you to apply for the Pioneer Generation Package. The Pioneer Generation card will be sent automatically to your registered NRIC address by Sep 2014. It is valid for life.
